For more than two centuries, the United States and France have shared similar humanistic and philosophical values. Today, as Southern California hosts the second largest French community in the US, the mutual attraction between both communities deserves to be nurtured. FLAX’s mission is to bring together resources and programs that will draw our two countries and their people closer.
By partnering with Southern California cultural and educational institutions and using our access to the French creative community and its associated events, FLAX is dedicated to expose our region to the diversity of French culture.
FLAX wants to pull together the goodwill and the generosity of Francophiles in Southern California so as to foster cultural exchanges and produce artistic events.
FLAX is a 501(c) (3) public charity registered in the State of California.
FLAX is dedicated to fostering a better understanding of modern France through cultural events in Southern California.
In partnership with local French organizations (French Consulate, Alliance Française, Maison de la France), FLAX initiates and creates public art events to promote French cultural education and heritage.
FLAX works closely with California museums, concert halls, cultural centers and universities.
FLAX pools private and corporate resources to promote innovative cultural exchanges between French and American people in the United States.
Created in 2006 by two French men, Gerald du Manoir and Lionel Sauvage, FLAX is the logical answer to their love for America and their desire to pursue the historical link between both countries.
Based in Los Angeles, FLAX is an independent foundation, administered by a Board of French and American Directors and managed by Elisabeth Forney, its Executive Director who is also chairman of the Program Committee.
Thanks to its independent structure, FLAX operates with autonomy and transparency.
Operating costs have been reduced to a minimum in order to turn the maximum of donations into efficient programs.
FLAX’s non-profit status enables receipt of U.S. tax deductible contributions from individual donors, corporations and other institutions.
